Nicolas the 1st, King of the Belgians, visits Istanbul
on an economic mission as Turkey teeters on the edge of entering the European Union. In the pomp and fluff
of ceremonial protocol the King learns that Flanders
has unexpectedly declared its independence.
Only he alone can save the kingdom!
Nothing better to salvage his image as a rather dull
and impotent royal. As he rallies up his entourage for
a swift departure a solar storm strikes the earth's atmosphere shutting down all communications and
all airspace. No phones. No planes. No return to Belgium. To make matters worse Turkish security condemns
the King to his luxury hotel in Istanbul. But he has no intention of waiting out this storm. His savvy young valet and a ruffian British paparazzo hatch an outrageous escape plan that involves flowery dresses and singing Bulgarians. And so, with the King's stern Chief of Protocol and neurotic Press Attaché in reluctant tow, they all pull off a fabulous disappearing act. Thus begins the King's undercover odyssey across
the Balkans, a journey loaded with mishaps, wrong turns, revelations and moments of grace. Not to mention
